History

It All Began in the Industrial Revolution…

Park Manufacturing Company was born in the industrial revolution with the boom of the textile industry in the Southeast during the end of the 1800s.

At that time, Charlotte, North Carolina, was growing, and the original Park Elevators building was built along the busy Charlotte, Columbia and Augusta Railroad. The company was named for the park-like setting in the nearby Dilworth neighborhood, which was Charlotte’s first streetcar hub.

Park was originally organized to cast and manufacture heavy equipment for the ever- expanding textile industry. We began building and installing elevators in people’s homes back in the early 1950s, when a home elevator was an unprecedented luxury. However, when approached to create an open-air, six-sided elevator, complete with a wet and dry bar (because we were willing to think outside of the box and create what our customer wanted), we knew that Park Elevators had found its distinct niche.

Today, we continue to manufacture and install the finest residential and commercial elevators and dumbwaiters all over the Southeast.

Trade Experience

In the almost 110 years since 1898, our leadership has changed only three times. Most of our current employees are second- and third-generation Parkemployees, following in their parent’s footsteps to provide our customers with the highest-quality products and services available at a reasonable cost. Our main focus is on service beyond the state-of-the-art technology, superior quality, customer satisfaction, product reliability and safety. Our top priority is always pleasing our customers.

Service After the Sale

Our countless service contracts are testimony to the confidence and reliability that we have earned from our customers. Many of these customers have relied on us for the service of their elevators for decades.

Fine elevators are to be treated like a luxury automobile—keep them well maintained, and they will give you quality service for decades.

On the rare occasion that you may require a repair, you will welcome our swift response and knowledgeable problem-solving skills. The mechanic who comes out to service your Park elevator actually had a hand in building and/or installing it, so they know exactly what to look for when trouble-shooting your unit.

Building Retrofit

It should not surprise you to discover that a company as old as Park Manufacturing can help with the modernization of your older or aging elevator.

Former textile mills are being retrofitted and converted into commercial loft space, usually preserving the existing building structure and facade.

We can rebuild the elevator to fit the existing hoist way. If there is an existing elevator in an older building, we are fully capable of refurbishing it.

Chances are, we were in business when it was installed—who better to trust to bring your elevator up to current safety standards and code?
